Our beekeeper Marlène Hahusseau produces this fine organic honeydew ( Miellat du maquis AOP ) in one of the wildest and most uncontaminated areas of all of Corsica, Cap Corse . Located at the northern end, Cap Corse is an alternation between remote villages and small fishing ports immersed in the Mediterranean scrub.
Corsican honeydew AOP (Appellation d'origine protégée which corresponds to our PDO) : here in Cap Corse the honeydew is harvested from May to September in one of the wildest corners of the island, far from any source of agricultural and industrial pollution.
The Mediterranean scrub in Cap Corse grows luxuriant and the bees collect the honeydew mainly from the Cistus , Green Oak (Quercus ilex) and Eucalyptus.
It is a typical dense and dark honeydew, with a warm, persistent and aromatic flavour, with a malty, caramel and cooked fruit flavour. A signature honeydew.
Miel de Corse AOP . For production, only the local Corsican bee is used and is preserved with great care by strict local laws.
Production method : an artisanal honey which in addition to the AOP is produced following organic beekeeping methods: obtained without the use of chemical treatments.
Honey not subjected to heat treatments, with great nutritional value.
