Organic Saffron

Among the many Italian producers, we have chosen organic saffron from a farm in Umbria located on the hills of Città della Pieve, the birthplace of the famous painter Pietro Perugino. This area is one of the oldest in Italy for the production of saffron, as evidenced by many historical documents dating back to the 13th century.

In 2002, the Consortium "Il Croco di Pietro Perugino Zafferano di Città della Pieve" was created, and its products are recognized as PAT (Traditional Agri-Food Product) of the Umbria Region.

This is a Certified Organic Saffron of the Highest Quality that meets The Honeyland requirements:

  • Over 20 years of tradition
  • Small-scale (non-intensive) cultivation in hilly areas
  • Quality parameters higher than those of Class I (the highest), established by the international standard ISO 3632-2011 - for humidity, color, taste, aroma.
  • High nutraceutical values: laboratory analyses show very high parameters for Crocin, Picrocrocin and Safranal.
  • Freshness: Freshly harvested saffron from the new 2022 production.

On The Honeyland, you will only find certified organic herbs and spices: they arrive directly from the producer, shortly after packaging.
