This exceptional Kafun Catechin tea is harvested from the Morimoto family's tea gardens in the Miyazaki district on the island of Kyushu (Japan).

It is a tea with a remarkable concentration of EGCG catechins (epigallocatechin gallate). This important polyphenol has significant antioxidant, cardiovascular and neuroprotective properties, as documented by numerous studies.

Special tea variety

This tea is made exclusively from Benifuuki tea leaves. As tea plants produce catechins mainly when exposed to sunlight, the Benifuuki bushes used for Kafun Catechin Tea are never shaded. The Morimoto family harvests the leaves from their Benifuuki bushes only after three consecutive days of full sunshine. If a cloudy day occurs during this period, the harvest is postponed. This rigorous process ensures a high concentration of catechins, guaranteeing the tea's unique quality and benefits.

High levels of catechins

Every year, Kafun tea is analysed and the results are printed on the packaging. The catechin concentration, which is already very high, seems to increase with the age of the tea bushes.

Powdered tea

The tea leaves have been ground into a powder, similar to Matcha, so this tea can be used like Matcha. In this way, you are also absorbing the tea powder and its concentrated beneficial properties.

Flavour

Fresh, accompanied by strong aromas, perfectly balanced without any bitterness.

As a general rule, the stronger the flavour of the tea, the higher the concentration of catechins.
