Description
Organic Corsican Arbutus Honey from the Regional Park
This rare and precious honey, produced near the small village of Noceta (population 60) in the heart of the Corsica Regional Natural Park, is unmistakable.
After three years without production, we are thrilled to be able to offer this rare honey to you again.
Honey characteristics
It is light amber in colour with a crystallised yet creamy consistency.
Its flavour is bold and distinctly bitter, with an aromatic intensity that surprises and captivates. Don't be fooled by its delicate hue: this honey has a strong character, with woody and vegetal notes that evoke the full power of the Corsican Mediterranean maquis in autumn.
Spontaneous Blooms
On these headlands, amid the maquis, olive and chestnut trees and imposing Corsican pine forests, bees collect nectar in October and November when the climate permits. During this period, the strawberry tree blossoms are accompanied by other plants, such as ivy, sarsaparilla and Inula viscosa.
It is the autumn cold that triggers this rich, fragrant bloom, making the production of this unique honey possible.
Corsican Arbutus Honey AOP
AOP (Appellation d'Origine Protégée) corresponds to the Italian PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) certification. The certifying body carries out laboratory analyses to verify the quality of the product (physical and chemical criteria) and its origin (pollen spectrum). Production conditions are also regularly checked: hives must be in good condition, the wax must be regularly renewed, and it must be pure beeswax.
Corsican Bee AOP
Only the local Corsican bee is used in production and is carefully preserved by strict local legislation.
Production method
This artisanal honey has AOP status and is produced in accordance with TheHoneyland's ethical code for organic beekeeping. It is produced without the use of chemical treatments or heat treatment.
