Description
This organic marine cistus honey is harvested in the Linas area of southeastern Sardinia. This lush region is covered in dense forests and is home to rare species and fragrant Mediterranean scrub. Streams and waterfalls are scattered throughout the landscape.
Characteristics:
It has a fine, creamy texture and an amber colour, and an intense, spicy aroma. It is a bold, savoury honey with jam-like notes.
As an artisanal product, the colour, aroma and taste may vary slightly from year to year.
Harvest area: spontaneous blooms in the Linas territory (Sardinia).
Mediterranean scrub biodiversity:
This lush environment includes mastic trees, broom, wild olive trees, oleanders and willows at lower elevations. Higher up, the scrubland is home to arbutus, heather and phillyrea, as well as fragrant thyme and helichrysum bushes. Holm oak forests are prevalent, often alongside phillyrea and arbutus. At higher altitudes, the garrigue, which is full of thyme, rockrose, helichrysum, broom and betony, offers a unique sensory experience, especially in spring.
It is in this unspoilt landscape that our beekeeper, Daniele Cossu, places his hives to produce this rare and highly prized rockrose honey.
