Description
This organic eucalyptus honey is produced by our beekeeper in the Lower Tirso Valley, a rural area of the Oristano province near the Monte Grighine Forest Park.
This natural area boasts diverse Mediterranean vegetation, including eucalyptus, mastic, myrtle, tree heather and arbutus, and is home to migratory bird species that are protected by the EU and the Bern Convention.
During the peak bloom of the eucalyptus in June and July, our beekeeper, Daniele Cossu, brings some of his hives here to produce this highly prized honey.
This organic Sardinian eucalyptus honey has one of the lowest moisture contents, which is a sign of its very high quality.
Its colour ranges from warm amber to lighter shades when crystallised. It has an intense and complex aroma with notes reminiscent of liquorice and dried mushrooms. It has a balanced sweetness with a slightly savoury aftertaste and a persistent liquorice note.
As an artisanal product, slight variations in colour, aroma and flavour are to be expected from year to year.
