Organic Mediterranean maquis honey harvested by our beekeeper in the Barigadu Mountains, in the heart of Sardinia.

Like a floral mosaic, Mediterranean maquis honey combines intense and delicate aromas, creating a unique and unmistakable bouquet. Each year brings a new composition, a new masterpiece of nature.

HARVESTING AREA

It comes exclusively from wild flora in a wild area, mainly mountainous and rich in woods, where the highest peak is Mount Santa Vittoria (814 metres). Here the Mediterranean scrub is characterised by evergreen shrubs such as the strawberry tree (corbezzolo), lentisk (mastic) and various climbers such as the black bryony (tamaro), ivy (edera) and various species of clematis.

In 1983 a permanent wildlife sanctuary was established here, the "Assai" Oasis, named after the area. The fauna present in the oasis is of great scientific interest: fallow deer, roe deer, wildcats and martens; among the nesting birds we can note some Sardinian endemics, such as the sparrowhawk, the great spotted woodpecker, the coal tit and the cirl bunting.

In this splendid setting, in late spring, Daniele Cossu brings his bees to produce an excellent Mediterranean maquis honey.

HIGH QUALITY ORGANIC

Maquis honey is harvested organically, where plants and bees are not contaminated by pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals.

In order to preserve all of its properties, it is raw and does not undergo any heat treatment.
