Description

Luca Bonizzoni's organic thistle honey is harvested in the area of Castiadas and Muravera , in the hinterland of the beautiful Costa Rey , south-east of Sardinia .

Here in the summer months Bonizzoni brings part of his hives for the production of one of the most characteristic Sardinian honeys.

In this area the wild thistle plant is very present, accustomed to living in the arid climate of Sardinia.

This thistle honey is amber , it crystallizes very quickly. It has a particular, strong, vaguely spicy aroma with a light presence of nutmeg and wild thistle flowers. It demonstrates a very sweet floral component reminiscent of red fruit jams and a stronger and more subtle one, like freshly tanned leather.

Being an artisanal honey, its colour, aroma and flavor may vary slightly from year to year.

HARVESTED AREA: exclusively from spontaneous flora in the surroundings of Castiadas and Muravera, small villages nestled between the Costa Rey and the mountainous area of the Sette Fratelli oasis .

HIGH QUALITY ORGANIC . Organic thistle honey harvested where plants and bees are not contaminated by pesticides, herbicides and heavy metals.

To keep all its properties unchanged, this thistle honey is raw and does not undergo any heat treatment.

Due to its intense but well-balanced flavour, thistle honey is delicious spread on a slice of bread and also with meat , while it is not suitable for sweetening drinks.

Possibly combined with rather acidic yoghurts .

Storage : store in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.
