Top quality organic shelled Sicilian almonds, grown in Sicily in the Agro di Noto (Syracuse).
Organic Sicilian almonds from Noto and Avola are recognised as a typical product and are included in the List of Italian Traditional Foods (P.A.T.) of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (Mipaaf).
Among the hundreds of varieties available, the Pizzuta di Avola and Fascionello almonds, with their leathery red colour, are considered the most prestigious in the world.
We have chosen these tasty and crunchy Sicilian almonds, famous for their particular organoleptic characteristics.
Secular almond groves
We have selected sicilian almonds from century-old trees where ancient local traditions have been preserved, protecting the land from invasive anthropic intervention, using methods that go beyond organic.
No pesticides, hormones or chemical fertilisers are used.

Traditional processing methods are still used, preserving the nutritional properties of the raw almonds to the maximum.
NUTRITIONAL PROPERTIES of TheHoneyland Almonds
Although we often talk about the properties of almonds, recent studies have shown that these vary greatly depending on the variety, growing methods, harvesting time and even processing.
Recent laboratory analysis has shown that almonds from these ancient varieties (Pizzuta d'Avola and Fascionello) have significantly higher nutritional values than those from California:
- Good fats - 52% vs 40% (especially oleic acid, linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid - ALA - precursor of omega 3)
- Magnesium – 195.13 mg vs 103.89 mg
- Vitamin E - 25.88 mg vs. 21.05 mg
- Calcium – 267.76 mg vs 90.31 mg
Note that industrial processing (roasting or oven drying) loses all the vitamins in the almond and oxidises the fats.
Our almonds are dried in the sun, an artisanal process now in danger of extinction.
STORAGE
Our organic sicilian almonds are vacuum-packed as soon as they are shelled, without any intermediate storage that would affect their crunchiness and increase the risk of contamination with aflatoxins - so common in industrial products.
Vacuum packing protects the valuable fats and vitamin E in our almonds from oxidation.

Instructions
Store in a cool, dry place and at the recommended temperature of 15-18°C with humidity not exceeding 50%.
Storage after vacuum opening: the product can also be stored in its original bag, tightly closed to avoid contact with air and humidity. In this case we recommend consumption within a maximum of 15 days.
Recommended storage The Honeyland:
Once the vacuum package has been opened, to maintain the nutritional properties we recommend placing the almonds in the fridge wrapped in cling film with organic beeswax.
Daily consumption : international nutritional guides recommend eating around 30 g of nuts per day, such as hazelnuts, almonds and walnuts. To be consumed plain as a snack or for breakfast.
IN THE KITCHEN
- To prepare chopped raw almonds in sweet or savory dishes - as a topping for cakes or in pasta.
- To prepare almond milk or an organic almond cream with raw honey.
- To increase the bioavailability of nutrients we recommend consuming them after soaking (about 8 hours), exactly like legumes. In this case they must then be consumed immediately.
