This organic honeydew honey from wild Mediterranean scrub ( Miellat du maquis AOP ) is one of the finest honeys from the Corsica National Park .
MOUNTAIN honeydew : it is harvested in September in a wild and uncontaminated setting. We are in the Tavignano Forest between the towns of Noceta and Corte, far from agricultural and urban activities.
There is a very rich and varied flora which makes it one of the most sought after and appreciated honeys. The bees collect the honeydew mainly from the Laricio pine ( Pinus nigra laricio ) endemic in this area, Cistus , Green oak (Quercus ilex) and Eucalyptus.
It is a dense and dark honeydew, with a warm, persistent and aromatic flavour, with a malty, caramel and cooked fruit flavour. A signature honeydew.
Miel de Corse AOP (Appellation d'origine protégée which corresponds to our PDO). For production, only the local Corsican bee is used and is preserved with great care by strict local laws.
Production method : an artisanal honey which in addition to the AOP is produced following organic beekeeping methods: obtained without the use of chemical treatments.
Honey not subjected to heat treatments, with great nutritional value.
